Rooms
Different rooms in the home can be made more practical; vinyl flooring or laminate can turn a spare room into a playroom or office. If you prefer, a cove-formed vinyl can give you a wet room to hose down the dog after a very wet walk.
Bedrooms
The bedroom is about luxury, and a nice deep pile will bring the ultimate softness to your toes. Bedrooms are less prone to wear than the main areas of the home, like the stairs, so you can afford to use a slightly less dense carpet and save a bit of money on dining and living rooms.
You often have bare feet in the bedroom, so wear and tear is minimal. And apart from the odd cup of tea to kick-start your day, stains from food and drink won’t be such a problem. Don’t forget that spare bedrooms get even less use, which can be more cost-effective; lower-density make do with a pile than main bedrooms.
When choosing a carpet for a child’s bedroom, stain resistance should also be considered. Bedroom carpets can be selected for a thousand reasons, but primarily by personal choice.
Living Rooms
The living room is a high-wear area, usually host to family occasions, dinners in front of the TV and relaxing afternoons with the Sunday papers, leaving them vulnerable to accidental spillages and stains. The living room will be subject to continual risk from dropped food, excited kids, animals and that evening glass of red wine. As such, it needs a carpet that will satisfy many requirements. Not least of all, it needs to look fabulous for when the in-laws or the nosey neighbour calls in.
It’s vital to ensure a hard-wearing carpet for this area. Look for those that offer a high pile density, using 40oz as a minimum guide. Wool and man-made carpets have a natural resistance to staining. The carpet will last as long as you clean up accidents as soon as possible, vacuum regularly, and get them professionally cleaned regularly.
Neutral colours are the trend at the moment. However, we offer a wide variety of colours and styles. White, green, blue, black and all the colours in between, some carpet manufacturers suggest a dye matching service. So if you can’t quite find that colour to go with the curtains, come and see us.
Kitchens
Vinyl flooring is the preferred choice, especially for pets and children who spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Vinyl flooring looks great, extremely durable, and easy to maintain.
Kitchen flooring can often stain from everyday spills. However, vinyl flooring can be found in stain-resistant versions. This type of vinyl flooring repels stains, so you can easily clean up spills without worrying about unsightly discolourations being left behind. Vinyl flooring doesn’t need to be waxed to keep its beautiful shine. Just simple mopping with mild soap and sweeping often will keep them looking as good as new.
In addition to vinyl, tile and wood effect materials offer all the benefits of vinyl while giving that extra style. Manufacturers like Amtico and Karndean offer ranges in marble, slate, wood effects also tiled patterns to give your kitchen the classic look you are searching for.

Materials such as these are preferable to laminates or ceramic tiles, for example, because they are not adversely affected by water spillages and are not cold to walk on.
You don’t have to spend much money choosing the best flooring for your kitchen. But, by choosing smartly, you can be sure you install flooring that is right for your kitchen, will last a long time, and will look great.
Bathrooms
Bathrooms are a high-traffic area, so wear is high on the list of priorities, along with easy to maintain, hygienic and practical for a water-based room.
Vinyl is the popular choice, affordable, simple to maintain, non-allergenic and waterproof all-purpose flooring. The choice of colours, patterns, textures and ‘effects’ on the market is enormous.
Popular simulations include all forms of wood and the ever-popular marble, slate, brick, quarry tile and terrazzo.
Simulation designs are not the only types available. Simple geometric patterns can look very clean and fresh; mottled, speckled, metallic and flecked finishes; and lively contemporary styles.
Bathroom tiles are another popular choice. The major manufacturers Karndean and Amtico offer hard-wearing waterproof flooring with realistic effects such as marble, limestone, slate and ceramic tile.
Carpet can be used in bathrooms and can be luxurious underfoot. However, carpets do crush easily in such a high-traffic area. Carpet does not withstand repeated soakings and will eventually rot.
